Well, here I am, trying to decide of moving either to US Virgin Islands or Hawaii. I currently live in Rochester, NY, am looking for a change of pace. Im 33, single, and have no issues with manual labor. I do have 2 degrees, but im looking for something simpler for a while. I can cook a turd, and make it taste like chocolate, Im a dj, and there is no profession I could not master. I am backed by my family for this idea, so money wont be the first concern, but i am in no way rich, just secure.
Urban living is what i am used to, and i have a lot of friends from Jamaica here, so I dont think racial issues should be a problem(I am Russian by birth, but people often confuse me for one of Puerto-Rican ties, mainly to my olive skin), and what I really want to know, what should I really know before I make this choice?

You should post this in the Hawaii forum also.

There is a comprehensive website specifically designed for people thinking of relocating to the US Virgin Islands,

USVI Moving Center - The Ultimate Resource for Relocating to and Living in the Virgin Islands

which will keep you busy for hours researching a ton of information. Good luck!

Well if they're a prerequisite for your relocation then Hawaii is the place for you, not the US Virgin Islands ...

Yeah, the MM Laws n the VI are in the Stone Age. No reform means you get busted with a roach, ur going to jail with a misdemeanor! I already have a license from CA( I have been on Xanax for 3 years), and I know with that, I won't have a problem getting one in HI. I love smoking weed, and I want to go someplace Tropical, and on US soil.Without being called a criminal for smoking weed. I don't brake any other laws here(my friend was caught with 3 eights and an open beer in public, and got a 6 month conditional release), and need to be someplace I wont have to worry about that. Besides that, life is what it is, I just don't want to live in NY anymore!!!(moving to CA was a thought, but every pothead in the country is also doing so, and I don't want to be just another one of them, moving to a broke State just to light up....)

Good to know that where relocation is concerned you have your priorities in order. Good luck in HI!

The VI is nice to live, especially if you are flexible when it comes to employment. However, it would be best to bury those marijuana plans and concentrate on the beautiful beaches, island-hopping and living in a Caribbean melting pot.
