I've been kind of lurking and reading posts on this forum for a while, so I'm excited for the feedback. I am at the end of a no thrills, apartment living, pre-move visit and honestly love it here. I'm a 22 year old female who has no interest in going back to New York at this point. For the past year I've been working from home as a freelancer (1099) for a few PR agencies and make between 5-6K a month. I have no car and just a NY apartment with a month to month lease. So my questions are as follows:
1. Are the tax benefits really that great down here? 2014 was my first year of being 1099 and it was pretty brutal.
2. Is it hard to get a driver's license here? Because I am from NY, I never bothered to get anything past my permit. Should I stay in NY to do this or stay down here?
3. Also, is it best to rent property here or to purchase?
4. Is it a problem that my Spanish isn't conversational yet? Should I stay in NY until it is?
5. How much money should I have saved before moving down here (I plan to keep my 1099 job)
