If I wanted to use Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish, because of a daughter in law who is from Puerto Rico, and whose grandparents came from Spain, which version would be best?
I would say latin but there are still many words that are different and/or have different meanings. Those you will have to learn in person or maybe reading the PR online newspapers.

I had my basic High School/College Spanish classes here in states..bilingual classes as a Law Enforcement Officer...and as a Master at Arms 2 in the Navy..not much help..
What got me speaking 'conversational PR Spanish' was many visits to PR.. immersing myself in the local newspapers and television..reading handwritten signs outside of restuarants...picking up on accents and dialects that differ from town to town
..engaging myself in convo with locals..at first, they giggle and laugh at your butchering of their dialect/ language..
but once they see you are in earnest..they do their best to help...
Listening to people having street conversations.. plus living in Trenton NJ, and married into a Puerto Rican familia was always a big plus.

Rosetta? Yah, probably the Latin American version. If you haven't bought a copy yet, you might take a look @ Savannah's public library offerings in languages. They might have Mango or one of the other offerings - possibly a free download. Depends on what they have. Also, if you're already into Rosetta, you might be able to fill in some PR usage or find dictionaries tailored to PR Spanish. Looking up Savannah, I see only about 4% of the city's population is Hispanic.
Best of luck with it, learning a foreign language as an adult can be discouraging. If you want classmates, you might look @ Intro Conversational Spanish classes in local colleges or universities. You might be able to just audit, if you don't need the credit.

Thanks, I'll check that out.
