It´s crazy how far it is from the Mainland, not just distance but in terms of being so isolated. One would have to fly to Honolulu, then Guam and then Saipan just to go visit.
I wanted to share this, because most Americans are unaware that the people in The U.S Commonwealth of The Northern Mariana Islands(CNMI) are U.S Citizens too.

The CNMI is not really isolated..Asia and Australia is nearby...Hawaii on the other hand is more isolated from any landmass.
Guam and The CNMI is far away from the U.S Mainland, but it makes a good stopover for a few days on your way to Asia or Australia.

You should post this in the Hawaii or the Polynesian Forum, because this thread is about The CNMI which is in Micronesia not Polynesia.
If the rest of Micronesia, essentially the old Trust Territory plus Nauru and Kiribati were merged, they would have enough population to be a state. However, it would be much poorer than Mississippi, and all of those places suffer badly from nepotism and poor governance. The ethnic rivalries would most likely make it ungovernable. Outside the US Territories of Guam and the CNMI, and to a lesser extent the country of Palau, the rest of the countries (Nauru, Kiribati, FSM, and Marshals) are so incredibly poor, it would never function. Still, it would be the most beautiful state in the US, and probably have the best scuba diving in the world.
