We go to San Juan a couple of times a year, flying in there for a couple of days for shopping before heading off to St. Johns.
We tried going on a trip somewhere else in Puerto Rico one time but there was little to do there, and highways are dangerous, the ride long and boring! It's the first and last time we do that.
San Juan has everything. You can go shopping at Jimmy Choo and Caroline Herrera, and then go out to dine at 5 star restaurants like Ariel or Marmalade. You can even go to the beach. There is no reason ever to leave the metro area.
I enjoyed my time there on the island and lived in Luquillo. I rarely went to San juan because it felt like a tourist trap to me. I loved the little food stands and the local bars in Luquillo. I dont think San Juan is a true representation of the beauty of PR.
You should buy a Puerto Rico tourist guide. I find there's a lot to see and do inland, but if you don't know the lay of the land then you're going to waste a lot of time riding around trying to find places to see and things to do. In fact, you might pass very near a bunch of places of interest and not even know it.
AntonioR..you will find this person is a troll with at least 3 different accounts on CD..all with them making derogatory and flaming remarks about PR and The VIs.
They also post on the Florida CD talking smack about the refugees from PR that moved there
after huracán Maria.
Kind of sad how sick, insecure, and narrow minded racists , get their kicks by posting anonymously on sites like this.

Did you report this person to the mods using the red triangle in the upper right of the post?

What is Jimmy Choo? If I go all rhe way to PR, it is not to eat in 5 star restaurants. I can do that in NY.
