Pump your brakes Charlie. This is a home made video about 10 people or less. They don't represent 7 million of Puerto Ricans. I can find people in the cities in the U.S. that hate white people and hate the country or vice versa. They don't represent the whole 340 million people nation.
The comments to the video made by Puerto Ricans agree with the views expressed. To Puerto Ricans, an American is a foreigner from a different country that's "colonizing" - when it's just a handful of people who are doing nothing but supporting the local economy.
"Gringos" do no harm to Puerto Rico, but they're foreigners, so they are not welcome.

yeah, it's no different when whites come to the black inner cities to make a change. I'm sure all blacks welcome them with open arms. Like xenophobia doesn't exist in the U.S. I remember over a year ago when this happened to white businesses in the states. I rather have a few people calling me a "Gringo" than this done to my business. You will never see this in Puerto Rico but you see it a lot in the USA. I guess We should let them go and return them to Africa, right? USA the land of opportunity.
My DIL was raised there, and all her family is there. She was educated in an international school, and then college in the mainland. Her family is financially comfortable. The family members can travel, and could work anywhere in the world, but they stay in Puerto Rico. Whatever may be wrong there, it isn’t enough to make them leave forever. Some go for awhile, but then they return.
She and my son are there for an extended stay right now, but since he doesn’t speak Spanish, I expect they will come back to the mainland.
Her cousin went to Michigan State and is starting medical school here. It will be interesting to see if she goes back eventually, or not.
I don't have much to say regarding this topic. When I stumbled on those videos, the first thing that went off in my mind was a comment made by someone in this forum (though I don't remember the thread nor the poster) regarding more Anglos should move to PR. He or she implied that PR should anglicize in a way, but what is shown in those videos is a stumbling block towards that. What isn't clear is how big is this thinking in PR.

Ive suggested the angle as an accelerationist theory, but i thought i was clear in the completely facetious nature to my comment. I've also made it clear i hold a general disdain for the demographic history behind the annexation movements of the last 5 states, the 46th (my wifes home state) and 50th in particular. In short, i wasnt suggesting that course of action in any serious manner.

Fair enough. Enjoy my time in PR. Admit was interested in the Act 60 benefits myself when aware of them a few years back.
Understand the resentment from the locals...but it's emotionally based.....Some local politicians are fighting to end it, or water it down. Ironically the latter ensuring it's only viable for the most wealthy who can afford the ever increased rules set forth.
There are more people of PR descent in the mainland.....it goes both ways.
Think statehood is the best option for PR but each political party has reasons for and against.
Puerto Rico needs outside investors for the private sector since the local government has failed for too long.. Anglos? How about just U.S. Citizens ready to invest good enough. The problem that I have is the maker of the video. She has an agenda and she doesn't show the public the good about it and how it helps the private sector of the island, she is 1 sided coming from the hard left and magnifies the class warfare and plays the violin.
What the maker of the video refuses to tell the public that many people left the island, the government is very limited and useless and many properties abandoned and that hurts the economy. The banks are going to to what they have to do to bring investors and not let Puerto Rico turn in a dump or neglected.
of course some people are going to reject it if you keep telling them everyday how bad the U.S. is towards them and how evil is capitalism and blame the "gringos" for their problems. Luckily they are the minority in the island.
One of her videos she was talking about Albizu and she was saying that he faced lots of racism by the United States (No details) and refused to say in her video that he faced racism back in Puerto Rico by the institutions in that era (Native Puerto Ricans) . The United States made him an officer (LT) in the military and accepted him to Harvard. I wouldn't call that a bad treatment. That's a lot better treatment then what he got back in the island. You make me an officer in your Army and accept me in the most prestigious college not only of the U.S. but the world and I'm going to complain? Just saying about the person making the videos.

My grandmother knew Albizu on a personal first name basis although she found him very smart she thought politically he was full of **** he was very angry that lost some election by a huge margin so he got into the Independence movement and he was nothing more then agitator and that what angered my grandmother and alot of Puerto Ricans he would agitated a riot then run to a safe house that I got from my mom he was a big mouth coward!

My grandparents knew him very well and people of that era. The new generation like the woman making the videos don't. He was treated much worse in Puerto Rico by the institutions of the island and the independence movement itself and they never accepted him in the ruling elite class of the island by his extreme politics and race but he became extreme later not at first. That was his only choice to be in the game of politics. He was never accepted by the elite ruling class in Puerto Rico. Just read how the 1 party control PPD party in power for decades in the island treated him but the United States made him an Officer in the U.S. Army and accepted him in Harvard. I say he was treated a lot better in the United States than Puerto Rico.
My point of the videos is they are pushing a lefty's agenda of anti-American, anti-capitalism and pro independence and it's a pattern of all her videos. Thankfully for P.R. they are a minority that the young generation out of the universities are keeping it alive.
