Wow!! You sound like you have a big boat. In the winter time, the Atlantic is not a very nice place to be. While on a research trip to Mona Island ( between Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico), our leader insisted on seeing the north side of Mona. After being advised against it by the Captain, we rounded the Island and when we entered the Atlantic, we quickly regreted it. Our 38' sloop with a diesel aux felt like cork in a storm. I sweared that the next time in the atlantic, it would be in a Royal Canadian or Carnival cruise line. Good Luck anyway.

I don't know the exact miles from Miami to PR by sea but according to Google Earth its approximately 1,000 miles and add several miles because you have to go around some of the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. I know several captains that make this trip often bringing yachts from Miami and Fort Lauderdale into PR. It takes them about a week to complete the trip with good wether.

By boat, I would not mean a cruise, but a boat, like a freighter or a small passenger boat. Just 3 hits and a cot
