Pictures are from April 29th - May 6th.

STTResident, I'm sorry we never met. I reserved Monday and Tuesday for friend/family visits, but as you know, Monday was a total washout and Tuesday I had to help my mom with a repair.

I created the above video of a post Carnival beach party "tramp." It is held annually on the Sunday after the last events of Carnival on Magens Bay on the north end of St. Thomas. On that day, revelers hit the beach for beach parties and relaxation.

J'ouvert Morning (April 30th). This is the morning after the Virgin Islands cultural Food Fair. Normally people get no sleep prior to this, as many people leave all night parties the night before. It used to start at dawn, but due to recent flare ups of isolated violence, the time has been moved up to sun up. This is the occasion where revelers get a chance to jump up behind their favorite bands along a 2 mile stretch.

This thread would not be complete without a picture of the Charlotte Amalie Harbor. Now, this is a shot you might never see in your searches for pictures of St. Thomas. Why? Well, I took this picture from a spot above Frenchtown where tourists never venture and local people will never really think of taking a picture from.

The location is a church up there where the breeze can put anyone to sleep. Cool tropical trade winds fuh days, mehson.

If you look carefully to the lower right of the picture, you will see part of a green house. As a little boy, I used to live in that house right in the shadow of the church where I am taking that picture from. Until just a few days ago, I NEVER set foot on that church property.

Here's an old picture of that church at the top of the hill back in the 1940s:

To get a few quick recaps by video, here are some videos. Now, this year the "feel good" song was performed by a local band from St. John, Virgin Islands. They call themselves, Cool Sessions. The song is catchy and quickly became the anthem for plus sized women. Here's there big hit, Big Gyals Rule:

Part I (be patient for song)
