Well, I am glad that some natives/persons who have lived a long time in the locale, such as yourself, contribute since it is helpful to have both perspectives. One can relate what it was like to be an outsider coming in and the other can give a historical perspective and provide information about issues that newbies such as myself would never otherwise know about. I just see a difference between objecting to the content of someone's posting and the fact that they are posting.

induhvidual Did it take you 11 years to save up the money to leave those horrid conditions, or did some pleasant days make you reconsider? Any tropical place has mahogany birds and lizards. Why don't I have them in my condo? Its on STX

Neither has a desire to ever come back to the states to live. There are MORE of these people than those like you or those who might think like you.

Just continue to enjoy Alaska and all the best.
My family lives there, I left for college by the way.

What exactly do you mean by that? In terms of climate, water and [some] scenery it is. Culturally, generally speaking, it isn't and I would hope people know this despite our status as a U.S territory.

I think this has gotten a bit off the subject, we are here to learn basic things about relocating not to argue if it's good or bad, or why you love it or don't. Why do people turn these into an arguement when we just want the facts. Sorry to sound like an a**hole but really guys!
