I will be vacationing in PR for the first time in early July and wanted to know if there are any special events during my stay. My group has not decided the details on our trip, but i would like to do or go to a non-tourist place. Most of our stay will be in San Juan, but will be willing to travel. Any suggestions?

If you want a non-tourist area, I would recommend a drive through the mountains, like HWY 10 which goes from Arecibo to Ponce. There are beautiful bamboo trees and interesting towns. As mentioned on another thread, the cemeteries are unusual so you might want to stop at one in Adjuntas.
