Hola,

Could someone recommend airlines that provide cheap direct flights to various islands in the Caribbean?

It's difficult to filter the google search results as they are all diluted with junk from airline booking sites.

If anyone has info for the following:

-Punta Cana is only 80 miles from Aguadilla, yet many flights require a flight all the way to NYC as a connection Might as well Kayak it! I've heard PAWA has flights and they do advertise as so, however when you try to book their website doesn't allow.

-Surf island hopping to various islands such as Barbados.

Is it possible to hire private pilots? I have no knowledge on that idea.

Gracias,
-Joe

I've found the best way to get information on island hops from the USVI anyway is to call the local airlines directly - or go through a local travel agency. The web searches are, I agree, totally frustrating most of the time. Liat, Cape Air, Seaborne all have local offices here (and I believe in PR) and I'm sure there are many more. Hope that helps!

LIAT is expensive. 60 percent of your ticket fare will be taxes.

I've found a page that could be quite helpful on this topic:

Puerto Rico Airlines / Airport Puerto Rico. All Airlines Info Puerto Rico Airline

It lists all airports in PR as well as airlines big and small.

Also another resource:

"Absolutely"....I would start hanging around the harbor at Fajardo, post some notes on bulletin boards and start surfin' the web for blogs/web sites that cater to the sailing crowd.
Like this one: sailblogs.
or here: blogs
