Quote:
Ferrer, the House minority leader, said the PDP as an institution would hold demonstrations against the administration and plans to layoff workers. When asked about NPP charges that the PDP’s poor administration over the last eight years has created the need for layoffs, Ferrer said: “We never fired any government employee.”

didn't he just confirm what the NPP said? the PDP obviously was asleep at the wheel to leave a $3.2 bn deficit

That paper forgot to point out that when the PDP was in power over 8 years ago that they themselves got stuck with the NPP super deficit which part of todays deficit is a continuation of.

And this firing of island government employees is nothing but a way to increase the governments money surplus which will be used for who knows what. But they could careless about the deficit.

Example - On the radio they said over 30 million was allocated to fixing roads. In the end only half the money was available to fix the roads. It seems the Island government hired groups of different lawyers to write up the road contracts. And those lawyers when they sent there bills and were paid, half the money was used up. Then now we have the Island government firing government workers to make up for things like this. Like the radio host says, "Something seems wrong with that picture".
