Hey everyone,

I am currently in CA and was on my 3rd tier of EDD with a balance. I understand that recently there was no checks to be sent out after July 12th, 2010. I was wondering if anyone else received a letter stating:

"You are potentially eligible to file a new claim effective 6/20/2010. You may apply on-line at etc..."

I wasn't quite sure what they wanted me to do so I called but the guy on the phone hung up on me. Not to surprising. I filed a new claim online but wasn't sure what else to do.

Please reply if you are having the same situation. Thanks!

Is it no checks sent out after July 12th only for those who have gone into extended benefits (Tier 1 or later) or also for those who are receiving initial benefits?

My continuing claim form that I submitted this week covers weeks ending 7/3 and 7/10. EDD has not processed this form and it's Friday ! Is this due to this July 12 development ? Does anybody know what's going on and why this is happening ?

Yes, mine has not been processed either. I submitted for the 14th week of Tier 2 (a single payment of one week) and it's on hold. So as soon as this thing passes, they will release the funds.

I am still waiting on paperwork to approve for Tier 3.......I assume will come today.

Bette -

my situation is the same as okong. I'm in a tier ( 2 ) with a balance still remaining. there was no problem submitting claims and getting paid for tier 2 up until this week. now all of a sudden my claim for the last 2 weeks isnt processed and coincidentally others are reporting a problem surrounding the same time period - it looks like the problem involves getting paid for week ending 7/3 and 7/10. or put another way getting paid for any benefits starting July 12

Hmmm- Oh, I see what you are saying. I assumed based on previous issues with payment the last time this 'extension failure' happened, that this issue was along the same lines.

Just a thought- I wonder if it's because of money problems with CA. The state is bankrupt and maybe they are holding funds back for a separate issue. Wow- this just gets better and better.

Hopefully this will resolve itself soon. I'm going to try to call EDD (I know, good luck). I got through on the first ring last time so maybe I'll get lucky. If I find out anything, I'll post it.

If you're on tier 2 - are you sure it's not that your benefit year has ended? The timing would be right - have you recertified?

Same situation here. I'm on my first 26 weeks. Haven't received a check this week, nor any info from EDD. I thought we were all good with getting payments as long as we weren't between tiers, so I don't understand what's going on.

Yes, I already recertifed the year end benefit and completed my Tier 2 but then this 14th week was a separate added extension but because the system could not accommodate the 14th week, they had to pay out later.

Still on hold. tick tock.
