I mailed my claim for this past Friday (16th) as I usually do. I have always been receiving my check on the following Thursday (22th in this case).

I moved and have updated my address more than 2 weeks ago (update address on claim form.)

Anyhow, I have not received my check today. I called EDD using the automated system to obtain information on the check I should have received today. I give my social etc., and I'm told the last check was processed July 8th. I was given no information on the check I should be getting today. Shouldn't I have information on the check that "should be on the way" when I use the automated system. They do claim to update at 6:00 AM every day.

Should I worry? Or do I have to deposit/cash the check for it to show up on EDD automated system.

I have a feeling it was either mailed out late ( I used a little hole in the wall "Got Mail" store rather than USPS...the place looked trashy and unorganized.

If they say the last check was processed on July 8th, that means they have not cut a check yet for you this week. So doesn't sound like it is lost in the mail, just not processed. Maybe it will take longer because they have to change your address in the system. Who knows how long that may delay things.

Thanks Tiltil,

Strange thing my last check up sent to my new address. I don't remember if the address was update or if the yellow USPS forwarding stick was on. I guess I'll call tomorrow.

Does anyone have any information on whether you had a delay from updating your address on the form?

UI in most states will not forward UI benefits payments -- generally the new address has to be in the system or the check will be returned to UI.

If you got your last check at your new address, you should have no problem with this next one. But it's best to double check with them tomorrow.

Sounds most likely that it's lost in the mail on the way to EDD, and wasn't received by them, thus the automated system would would not report the claim processed.

If the check had been misdelivered or lost in the mail on the way to you the automated system would have reported the claim processed, but you would not have received the check.

The first case above is the one you described -

Might want to give 'em a jingle and see if they got it or why the delay in processing.
