A neighbor of mine who is a long term unemployed person was able to attend a number of free classes and enroll in a Certificate Program in basic office procedures, workplace communciations, Microsoft Office and business writing. These classes were offered in the evening at a local High School and were part of a formal vocational technical school run by a large school district.

Because the people were unemployed and collecting benefits all tuition was paid for by the government. About half the people in the classes were attending for free and the other ones were paid out of their own pocket to get job skills to gain a new career or be promoted at their current job.

Almost without exception, the students who were given free training showed a poor attitude, were constantly late or absent or fell asleep in class. The ones who paid were the model students.

So, are you on unemployment benefits? Are you able to attend FREE job skills training?
