Before accepting a temp job I have questions regarding my unemployment I hope someone can help with.
I lost my job in Nov 2010, and have been collecting unemployment since, receiving about $540/week. (Was making around $23/hr).
I live and the job was in NJ if that makes a difference.
I have an offer for a temp job in Delaware that would pay a higher rate, somewhere between $27-30/hr, but would only be a 4month temp job.
I don't really know about any unemployment laws, but looked at a chart for filling a new claim for NJ, that if I filed when the temp job was over a new claim my base year period would be April 1, 2010 to March 2011....at which time I worked March-Oct full-time making $23/hr and would be about a month making say $28/hr, yet would have no income other than unemployment from November to mid February.
How would this impact my claim? During the base year period my wages would be only about $33k....
Would I receive less after leaving the temp job? would it be treated as a new claim, or can and should I continue to file for unemployment (not receiving a weekly check but keeping my original claim open for the 4 month temp job?
