I guess I never really paid much attention to this number on the forms I received in the mail, but I just noticed that my status on the unemployment (IL) website shows:

Current Maximum Benefit Amount Balance: $0.00

I'm towards the end of tier 2 and there's no reason why I shouldn't continue to tiers 3 and 4.

The only explanation I can think of is that a separate balance is allocated for each tier. In other words, could the zero balance indicate the end of tier 2, and a new balance will be established for tier 3?

This, the balance is per tier. At least that's how it is in NJ
