I'm not sure what to do. I might end up unemployed soon due to lack of work. I was told by the HR person I can apply for unemployment.
I worked 2 months in NJ and then 2 months (and counting) in MA. I'm going to move back to NJ if this job ends. Prior to that, I worked as a freelancer in CA so didn't pay into unemployment. Therefore I will only have maybe 2 quarters at most, so my unemployment will be for a short time only.
So where would I file? I've heard NJ pays more since it's 60% of your salary, but since the last place I worked was in MA, I think I would have to follow MA rules, right? If they are the "paying" state would they only pay me what they are required, which is 50%?
BTW, it's the same company I worked for in both states. It's through a temp agency and they have offices all over.
