You say you own a tanning salon. I wouldn't be so snarky. That it a business that could easily shut down in this economy.

I can't think of any business that is more of a non-essential.

And people are cutting out the non-essentials.

Besides it causes skin cancer and premature aging.

If I had to get a real job again, I would. I've done plenty of "unpleasant" jobs in my day to bring in a paycheck. That's why I am where I am today. Because I am not "high and mighty" about it.

Actually, our business is increasing every day. Even during the summer which is traditionally the slowest time of year, we seem to be going great guns. Go figure!. Maybe my customers are smarter than to believe the stupid fear tactics that the FDA (yes the same people who approved VIOXX) is spewing forth.

Non-essential? Please don't tell my 400+ customers. LOL

It's not matter of brushing up on Spanish, but since you don't live here, you wouldn't know what it's like. There's a difference in "brushing up," and being Hispanic and fluent. I'm an office worker, I don't do construction, manual labor, heavy lifting and the like. That's why these men are standing out in front of the stores.

Branson, MO is like night and day compared to San Diego, so don't be so snarky with your comments.

You'd be in for an extremely rude awakening.

They have labor agencies here in philly and I went to them when I was in college home for the summer. But I would never ever go back because I have no interest in labor only administrative

Yes non-essential. Going to a tanning salon is an "extra" and one of the first things someone who has to cut back will stop doing.

Before they get rid of cable TV or the cell phone.

People have to eat, they have to buy items at Walgreens, and they will still go out to eat from time to time...but tanning is not needed.

If they want to look tan they can buy it in a bottle or lotion and get the same look and without the damage to their skin.

I wouldn't tell other people to stand outside of Home Depot when you own a business(which you haven't had that long) that provides a service that is very much a non-essential in this economy.

You know what they say about karma.
