I recently interviewed for a full time position. They told me that the way they do things is that they hire people, have them work for 3 months as temps, and if everything works out, they offer them permanent positions
I don't know if this is a typical "temp-to-perm" scheme or just the way that company goes about hiring people, but I was wondering what would happen to my health insurance coverage if I actually get the job, since I don't suppose that a temp will get any health insurance benefits.
Since I'd be employed I'd no longer qualify for health insurance through the dept of unemployment, so would I be responsible for paying for my health insurance during those 3 months?
I have no idea how much insurance coverage costs if one pays for it with money out of one's own pockets. Given that I don't suppose I'd be earning a lot money as a temp worker (I guess the equivalent of $40k/year at most), will I likely end up spending most of my paycheck on health insurance?
