I am starting my new job on Thursday, strange I know but payroll starts that day. Anyway, I am supposed to claim benefits on Sunday for the final time. How do I do that when only working two days? Figure out what I make each day and enter that amount? I assume this will reduce my benefits but by how much? I am in NJ if that helps? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you record what you'd earn for Thursday and Friday. I have no idea what NJ's formula is for partial benefits. However, if you earn as much working Thursday and Friday as your weekly benefit amount, you'll get nothing, and if you earn less than your weekly benefit amount, you'll get something.

Here is NJ's partial benefit formula:

Quote:
The Partial Benefit Rate is 20% higher than your weekly benefit rate. You cannot be paid more than your weekly benefit rate.

For example, if your weekly benefit rate is $200, your Partial Benefit Rate is $240 (20% higher than $200). If you earn $50 during a week, you would receive $190 in unemployment benefits ($240 - $50 = $190).
