There is no way of knowing from what you posted.

You need to call the claim agent.

We don't know your claim history, your state, or anything about your claim for us to even be able to begin to guess.

My claim status was updated to "Pended" right after i did the phone interview.

It stayed that way for like 2 weeks until benefits were approved. I guess it means your status is under review or something.

Can you let me know when they contact you? They literally just did the same exact thing to me.

What state are you in? Did your employer contest your claim? Is this a brand new claim, or were you doing a bye recertification? Legislative lapse hasn't helped any state.

My claim ran out 12/31/2013. However I received a "notice of extension of emergency unemployment" from NJ on 1/16/13. I live in PA and have called the out of state # 1-888-795-6672. Which tells me they are too busy to answer my call and to go online - where it tells me "claim is pended". It's a frustrating merry go round. I'll try calling the other NJ numbers.

No way to know - usually NJ will tell you if your benefit year has ended and tell you to call a CS rep. Tier 2 is commonly the time a bye might occur, but there could be other reasons for the pended status. You need to keep trying to call NJ or go to one of their local One-Stop offices - where there are phone banks which will connect you to a rep. Often faster than trying on the phone for hours.
