No - an employer with operations in many states.

The states quite often provide employers with publications and training to fight UI claims.

The UI system favors fired claimants, but most claimants are clueless, and throw their edge away. Quitters are at a real disadvantage. Even an employer that says that you're "laid off," can fight a claimant and probably win by telling a different story to the UI people. Therefore the employer can quite often have the edge because of experience and training.

Read the threads. Most people that post come here AFTER they were denied. The damage is usually done. You came here AFTER you applied, but you haven't hung yourself out to dry yet, so there's still hope for you.

For now, do not answer the UI phone call? What should I wait for?

Letters in the mail, and things changing when you look at the screens when you log on.

Chyvan- when is the best time to file for unemployment? When I received the part time letter. I filed for unemployment 7 days later while the company took its sweet time to officially terminate me at a later date under part time absenteeism that I never agreed on.

The best time to file is when you lose your job, and you know from your benefit amount that you're getting a benefit you can live with. A lot of times it makes sense to file immediately, sometimes waiting until a quarter changeover makes sense. It's a personal decision.
