As of this Sunday I will have used up my RI Unemployment benifits. I plan on fileing for RI EUC (emergency unemployment compensation) according to the Unemployment website I will qualify for Tier 1 benifits. I just have a few questions regarding the process....

1. Should I recive a letter in the mail explaining the process of applying? If so, when?

2. How long does the process take?

3. When should I get my first payment?

4. Do you have any other information that will be helpful?

Any information you have is much appreciated!!! I tried calling the customer service number to ask these questions, but their line is always busy

The process and timeframe vary by state.

Some states automatically transfer you if you continue to file claims, with no break in benefits. Others, like MA, TX, require an application and so state on their websites. In that case, the process can be accelerated if you telephone.

Continue to claim as long as the systems accepts your claims - and call your RI office.
