Hi, I'm in California and my current regular Unemployment claim came to an end on 6/09/12 as my benefit have been exhausted, I received my last deposited benefit amount on 6/12/12. I received a continued claim form(DE 4851) for the weeks of 6-10 to 6-16-12 & 6-17 to 6-23-12. To be completed and mailed on 6-24-12. However on the top stub of the claim form no benefit amount is mentioned, all it states is my name, SS#, and a claim expiration date of: 7-04-09. I did receive Unemployment benefits in 09' and can't recall what tier of Extended Benefits I was receiving either Tier 3 or Fed-Ed. I do recall I had to document my work searches and write them down on the back of the claim form before I would submit them. I finally found a job in OCT 09' and had several Temp Jobs all of 2010, and up to Sep 2011. I filed a new claim on Sep 2011 and exhausted the regular 26 weeks of benefits.
So my question is will I qualify for EB for this current claim, or will I be reverted back to the 09' claim. Because on the old claim my weekly benefit amount was $51. On the current claim that I just received my last check , my weekly benefit amount was $177. I hope i can find a job soon, I guess I shouldn't complain, any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I'm on the same time-line. I've been collecting UI benefits here in California off and on since Nov. 2004. Filed a new claim Sept 5, 2011 and exhausted all regular benefits the week ending June 9th (I worked some between Sept-Dec. 2011). I received a letter from EDD on June 14th notifying me that I qualified for Tier 1 benefits. This is the first time BTW I needed EUC. Anyway, the next day, June 15, 2012, I received a continued claim form for the first two weeks of my Tier 1 claim that started June 10, 2011. My Tier 1 benefit is the same as my regular UI benefit that was established in Sept. 2011.
Seems from what you said above that you may have been collecting Fed-Ed benefits back in 2009-i.e., required to submit weekly work search results to EDD. Until this year, from what I have read (and I could be wrong) such reporting was only a requirement for Fed-Ed benefits. Now reporting is required for all new EUC Tier 1, or those moving from Tier 1 to Tier 2, benefits after March 2012.
I'd call them and see what is going on as you should have gotten a letter last week like I did-since we are on the same time line. They have make various mistakes over the past 8 years on my claims (e.g., Failed to treat my new claim as a transitional claim two different years was one error.) and I had to call and get things corrected.

Thanks for responding,
I never received a formal letter, I did receive a letter that resembles a claim form but blank only the top stub has lettering. It shows my name ,SS#, week paid 6-2-12,6-9-12, Claim expires 10-13-12.Then it reads "You have received all benefits payable on your claim. You may qualify for extended benefits. If you qualify, the claim will automatically be filed. No action is needed on your part. You will be notified by mail of eligibility. Your claim balance after this payment is $0.00.
Then a couple of days later is when I received a new claim form without a benefit amount and with a claim expiration date of 7/4/09.
I was wondering did the letter the EDD sent you resemble any of the wording posted above?

No-it's a completely different letter than the one you are talking about which really isn't a letter but a "claim stub" for want of a better term. I got the "claim stub" about two days before I got the formal letter of eligibility. It's similar to the "award letter" that they send you when you originally filed back in September I don't have it with me but it states the exact amount of your weekly benefit, the date the Tier 1 benefits start (June 10, 2012) and the total amount (Your weekly benefit amount times twenty weeks.) of your Tier 1 award.

The forms you received were from the 2009 claim. Send back the forms. California will either pay you what remains of the Tiers 3 and 4 on the 2009 claim or begin paying you Tier 1 from the 2011 claim. Older benefits must be exhausted first. You need to exhaust Tiers 3 and 4 from the 2009 claim before the September 2012 bye of the current claim, in order to collect EUC on the current claim. California is no longer paying Fed-Ed.
Keep a log of your work search activities. CA may not be requesting that right now for the 2009 benefits, but it will be when you transition to Tier 1 from the 2011 claim as part of your reemployment assessment.

Just an Update:
I contacted EDD by emailing them at AskEDD.gov, they responded with that I'm on the the EUW extension, this extension is coming off of your claim filed 07/06/08. That my weekly benifit amount is $51 and my maximum benefit amount is $553.
So I guess I'm on the EUW extension from the old claim.
