My last job was bought (WI) in May, and I was not part of the purchase; ie laid off.

Over the summer, though I had several interviews, I was unsuccessful in finding a job, and with expenses being too high, I had no choice but to move with family (MI) to save my credit and be able to pay bills in full again.

It goes without saying that finding a cheaper place to rent (I'm single) was also not a possibility, because the landlords were not confident that I could pay, given my circumstances. I think I made a logical choice, but government may not agree

I am a 6 hour drive from being able to do a physical interview, should that be offered, and I did check the WI unemployment FAQ section, which states that so long as I continue my job search there, I should not have an issue.

Has anyone come across this situation, and if so, did you encounter any issues? I have to file my claim today, and since I've put in a change of address, I have to update them...just want to know what to prepare for, I guess.

Thank you!

People move out of their claiming state all the time when they've lost their job. Keep searching for jobs - anywhere in the country is OK - and keep a good log of where you've searched. Claim as usual. There is nothing out of the ordinary you need to be concerned about as long as WI knows you are now living in MI.

Default Thanks

I found that is the consensus, but nice to hear from the CD community to verify - thanks again!
