My unemployment claim expires on the 9th and I was curious that since I moved from the state benefits to EUC (Tier 2, I believe) if I should re-open my UI claim online at njuifile under the option that reads "file or re-open your UI claim", or should I re-open/re-certify through the phone/in person? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also, it is possible for me to claim this past week that ends on the 6th or it is unavailable to me until I re-open/re-certify? Ty in advance.

Can't answer any of your questions without knowing your state.

In NJ you must CALL and speak to a representative to recertify your claim at the bye. Do not do this online.

Hmm. In New York they direct you on the website to wait and see if it prompts you to claim your week or re-certify.
At around midnight 12:01am on Saturday (going into Sunday) I check to see what it says, and file.
If I don't see anything, like it reads zero, then I start worrying.
I slap in anything I can; claim the week first, then re-certify if it lets me. Or just re-certify if that's all it will let me do. (WARNING: re-certifying will slow your capability to claim your week.)
Then come Monday morning I call them. I confirm what I did on the website, and if my claim for that week did not go through for some reason, I ask to do it on the phone. If they give me a hard time about it I ASK FOR A SUPERVISOR.
I tell the supervisor that if I don't claim I will be totally broke for the week, and I have no money (which is true).
Usually the supervisor is compassionate enough to let me claim my week.
If you can't get a supervisor on the line and the person you're dealing with is an idiot, call back later and see if you get someone else.
I've had trouble with one guy who refused to let me claim my week. I called back the next day (don't wait a day, just try a little later) and got a gal who immediately suggested that I file over the phone, gave me all the info I needed, and was extremely nice.

The system (at least in NYS) is geared to make it hard for you to figure out, so that you make mistakes and thereby allow them to hold your money for the longest time possible. It's annoying as you-know-what and it's made to be that way!
Good luck, if all else fails don't wait to contact them, you know that they will make you wait for your money no matter what so be sure you've done everything you can!

Each state varies in its procedure. NJ is different than NY. NJ requires you call to recertify. NY requires online recertification.

now is the ONLY way to recertify in NJ is through the phone, or can I go to unemployment insurance office and do it in person. If only phone, what is the actual number to call b/c I have looked for that and come up with nothing.
