My Emergency Unemployment benefits from tier 1 was exhausted this week and Im getting a 39.00 check. I see that some states do not let you get a check to make up the difference for that week? When I called the Unemployment office they said they would put in a claim to "make the payment whole" ..

Im not sure what that means as I saw other states dont do that, as I thought being this was Federal they all acted the same for these benefits ?

The other thing is if this fiscal cliff doesnt get resolved in time to extend benefits or if they do.. When is the LAST Check I will recieve? As it says the last date for payments is the 29th of December of this year. Does that mean no checks are paid in the first week of January or what?

OP, I moved your thread over to the Unemployment forum, as you are far likelier to get quick and accurate responses here than in the Madison sub-forum.

Good luck to you.

Most states won't make you whole. When I collected in WI, I was stuck with a short payment numerous times because of state to tier, tier to tier transitions. I did send one email, never called. Person who responded to email said I had reached the end of a tier and would only get the balance. Never offered the option of being made whole. However, from what you were told, since then (2010) sounds like it may be possible WI will make up the difference if you request it. Of course, this is never advertised.

No. Government is paying benefits for the week ending 12/29. You claim the week ending 12/29 on 12/30. I assume you are claiming online. Do so on Sunday, Dec. 30. If Monday is not a state holiday, you will get your money on 12/31. Otherwise, you will get paid 1/2.
