The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission says federal budget cuts will mean a reduction in federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation payments. The OESC said Friday that the federal payments to the jobless will be reduced by 10.7 percent starting March 31.
That's just what the unemployed need, less to survive on, I have no idea how I survived on what I got for 2 years and that included a $25 increase every week.
It's definitely a painful blow but I've done what bunny suggested and pretty much resigned myself to it happening and have planned how to work around the resource loss. Ideally I would love to be working before this but again just in case it's best to see how creative you can be before it hits. I can't find the article but I did read that the democrats would be submitting the idea of making the cuts all 5% across the board for domestic programs but of course that would be contingent on other issues. I'd still plan on the full 10.7 or higher just in case.
I have no idea how the President or Congress needs to cut our poverty wage unemployment to help cut the deficit somehow. Its counter productive.
UI, as you should know, is not intended to be a living wage, rather a gap payment until you find another position. So, minimum or poverty level is irrelevant...it should NOT be enough to allow you to live the high life.
