Hey guys,

New poster here. I just got laid off in early November. I filled my first EDD form by mail, but haven't seen the second one so I signed up for the Online one.

Here are the two questions I am wondering if I should put Yes for.

1. Did you receive any money other than wages (such as vacation, holiday, pension, etc) from any employer during the dates listed above? YesNo
7. Did you work or earn any money, whether you were paid or not during the dates listed above?

1) I didn't get any severance pay when I got laid off, but they offered to pay for one extra month of health insurance OR I can opt out and cash it in. So I cashed it in. The check came during this pay period. Should I answer yes?

7) I didn't work during this period, but I have an online website with an adsense account. And Google paid me for all the ad revenue that I earned. I haven't updated my site in a while and still earned $100++. Should I put yes on here?

Will this affect how much money I get each week? I qualify for $450/week.

Thanks.

You will probably have to fill out a paper form, usually you do if you have to report income.

The answer to "did you work or earn any money?" is no, if you did not work during the week in question, even if you got paid.

The answer to "did you receive any money or other wages...?" is yes. You will have to explain it, and at this point the online site will inform you that you have to fill out a paper form.

Any time you report income there is the possibility that the EDD will stop your unemployment check until they have conducted a telephone interview. At that time you can explain where the money came from and they will make a decision on how it will affect future checks. Based upon my own experience the check from your former employer will not count against your unemployment check.

As for the Adsense check, I haven't experienced that, but I'm thinking that will at least be subtracted from your grant for that week you received it, but possibly not, since you earned it before you started collecting unemployment. How future earnings will affect your checks, I don't know.

Since this is an old question I'd be interested to know how it turned out for you. I'm wondering if I should put a stop on my Adsense to avoid a problem with EDD.
