So this is the message I got from NJ unemployment:
The benefit year on your unemployment claim dated 04-15-2012 has expired.
No unemployment benefits are available to you at this time.
Are there any options open to me? I've never been on unemployment before, and I've never had this much trouble finding a job. I don't know what (if any) other paths or extensions might be out there. Any help would be hugely helpful.

What is:
The $$ amount of your original monetary determination?
The $$ amount of your weekly benefit?
From that we can determine if you have, in fact, exhausted all state and federal benefits under your claim.
NJ is paying a total of 73 weeks' benefits at this time. You've only exhausted 52. Unless your original claim was so small that you have exhausted all state and federal benefits, you should have another 21 weeks left.
If that is the case, you need to call NJ to recertify your claim in order to receive what remains of your federal benefits.

^^^ What she said.
And, nice to see you here, JJ, even if it is under horrible circumstances.

Thank you all so much, I just got off the phone with unemployment and I think I re-certified. I say 'think' because the person I spoke to didn't explain things very clearly. When I asked directly if I was re-certified she said yes, but I still feel kind of unsure.
Overall I'm a little frustrated...I feel like the unemployment website should be much clearer and should tell me if I had options instead of leaving me to scrabble around trying to figure things out. Would it hurt to add another line to that scary message that says "you can call to re-certify for another x weeks?"
Just to be sure- after 73 weeks, I'm done, with no other options?

Actually, usually when people need to recertify in NJ, they are told to call NJ. I don't know why you weren't given that message.
If you had a full 26-week claim, you will get another 21 weeks. Here is the NJ website link on benefits it is paying at this time:
Department of Labor and Workforce Development | New Developments on Federal Unemployment Extensions
No other options after that.

Can you please tell me who you got through to on the phone? I've been calling 732-761-2020 and am not getting to the correct person. It is all automated.
