hello ,

i have the following situation.

i register an LLC last year - i did not do any money however I reported in my income taxes.

I recently got laidOff - my question is the following : can you receive unemployment if you start a llc in california?

Great question.

In New York, you can't. I know firsthand.

One quasi-legal way around it is to put your LLC in your spouse's name, and hope THEY don't get laid off.
