My GF recently became unemployed for the first time in her life. She has been working full time jobs since she got out of high school so she has no experience with filing for unemployment. I helped her find the website and got her started and when she received her first claim form she answered one of the questions incorrectly. The question that asked if she had been looking for work she answered "No" for some reason. I know for a fact that she has been scouring company websites looking for work every day. She said that she thought the question meant if she had applied to any companies since she had been looking for management positions but hadn't found any so she didn't submit her resume at the time.

So after a few weeks we noticed she didn't receive another claim for or payment. I asked her about the claim form she did fill out and that was when she told me about her little mistake. Now she received a letter telling her EDD will be calling her in a couple of days regarding the issue.

What's going to happen next? Did she just shoot herself in the foot and are they going to disqualify her from her claim?

Worst case, she is only out benefits for the one week. The second worst thing is the waiting for all this to get resolved.
