2014 job loss is irrelevant in Feb. 2016. However, you still can apply for benefits because you were laid off April 2015.

You will qualify for benefits as long as there are wages in the base period to support a claim. If you apply now, your base period now will be Oct. 1 2014-Sept. 30, 2015.

Since you worked Oct. 2014-Apr. 2015, there should be sufficient earnings in that base period for a pretty decent claim.
