I'm currently collecting UI on an alternate base period calculation. I've had it really hard the past few years with work in my industry. Anyways, here's the breakdown:
Work in 2013:
Quarter 1 - none
Quarter 2 - 1700
Quarter 3 - 18,000
Quarter 4 - none
I did not work in Q1, and only for one week in Q2. I worked as a w2 contractor on a 3 month contract (13 weeks) that ended in September.
When I called to file for benefits, I did not qualify for regular UI because Q3 hadn't ended at the time of filing (September 18). So, I had my determination calculated based off the Alternate Base Period, for which I qualified for 11 weeks at the state max rate of 674/wk
My Alternate Base Period UI ends the second week of December. From what I understand, I will be ineligible to qualify for any sort of extended benefits. Is this correct? I do not have the 20 weeks work minimum. I only worked 13 weeks. Also, my total compensation is not 40x my benefit rate. (40 x 674 = 26,960), which I think I need to qualify?
Am I understanding this correctly? That I will not be eligible for any extended benefits? Any help would be greatly appreciated! (i cannot stand another 2 hours on hold with Mass UI!!!)
Then look up MA on page 4-4. Those are the permissible formulas that MA uses. If you don't qualify under any of those tests, then you don't get an extension.
Did you have any 1099 work that you could attempt to get reclassified?
darn it, i don't qualify :-( No, i ididn't do any 1099 work either.
I will have a remaining UI balance of $312 once I exhaust all 11 weeks of my alternate base period UI. Will I be allowed to also collect the $312 remaining balance?
You will receive your entire monetary award, even if the last week is less than your WBA.
A claim with a preponderance of earnings in only one quarter will not qualify for EUC. The numbers just don't work.
