I was laid off from a job at the end of July 2013, and qualified for 26 weeks of unemployment (live and work in NJ). However, I got a new job in October, so there was a balance on that claim. Fast forward to April 2014, and I was laid off from the new job. I contacted unemployment and they reopened my existing claim from July '13. Those benefits have been exhausted. My question is, once I reach the one-year anniversary of the claim I filed last July, will I be able to file a new claim based on the job I held from November-April? Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. Per NJ handbook:
Quote:
REQUALIFYING REQUIREMENT
If you received benefits on an unemployment insurance claim, you
must have worked since the beginning of that claim to qualify for
another unemployment insurance claim after the first claim’s benefit
year ends.
You cannot go from one claim to another successive
claim without working in between. Two claims cannot be based
on the same separation from work.
You must earn six (6) times the previous claim’s weekly benefit rate
and work at least four (4) weeks in covered employment to be eligible
for benefits in a successive benefit year.
I worked in Delaware for 23 months collected Delaware unemployment benefits which exhausted in May. Can I reopen my unemployment claim in NJ which I closed once I found the position in Delaware?

Only if the claim benefit year has not expired. If you opened the NJ claim on or before July 25, 2015, that claim has since expired, any remaining benefits are lost. Claims have benefit years. Benefits are use it or lose it within that benefit year.
