Until TWC is done, you're not getting a nickel.

Were you fired or did you quit your job? If so, then you've got a wait still, and in that case, you should be getting help with preparing for an appeal.

Hi there,

I was laid off. I got a message from last pay request that if approve TWC will authorize payments this is confusing. Does it really take more that 4 weeks for initial claim?

TWC Processed Date: Aug 13, 2018
Amount Deposited: $0.00
Reason for No Payment: TWC is reviewing your claim to determine if we can pay you benefits. If we need additional information, we will contact you.

We see posters tell us this, but when the employer is contacted, they don't say the same thing. Were you REALLY laid off, or is that just the way you twisted things in your mind?

TWC is not going to pay because you said you were laid off. They have to check with the employer, and if it's taking this long, it usually means the employer is not responding (good thing) or the employer is telling a very different story, and you need to start getting ready to tell your story in a nondisqualifying way.

I called and they said "employer" hasnt responded yet, they have until tomorrow to respond and the rep. told me if they dont hear back by tomorrow they will go ahead and process it and it could take from 48-a week to process my payment? (does it really take a week to process?) fingers cross to get this pay because I am due some bills this week!

TWC is NOT going to pay until a decision is made. They'd wait 5 years in the case of an employer nonresponse if they could. TWC will NOT believe that you were laid off just because you said it.

However, out of fairness, if the employer doesn't respond, TWC will pay because the law says they have to, not because they want to want to.

No, it doesn't take a week. TWC could have chose to pay you immediately, but too many people before you have said, "laid off," and were lying.
