The idea of a 'tax holiday' is good... for anyone returning to work... AND for those still working. Although it doesnt do much for those on UI.... well.. unless it means that the UI wouldnt be taxed.. Oh I just thought of that.. so people would get their entire $ amount.

Thank you for posting that link!
You're welcome.

Payroll tax holiday was done before and it didn't work out well.

First and foremost is starves SS and Medicare of revenue, something neither can afford.

Next it does nothing for the large and growing numbers of self-employed, independent contractors and gig workers. Well not until every three months when they are expected to file quarterly tax payments.

If business owners/self-employed aren't making any money, that will be reflected in reduced tax payments already.

I still havent gotten the current stimulus! I check every day and it still says 'more info needed' - it wont let me put my deposit details in... grrrr
SO today I called the 'info line' and after being on hold for 15 min I spoke with a girl who transferred me to a 'specialist'. Was on hold for an hour and half. Someone picked up and then hung up on me... BIG GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

And that is a lot of voters. More than enough to impact an election. Myself included.

A stimulus check is nice and all, but it is less than 2 weeks of unemployment.

A huge amount of people are unemployed and need help for the months that they are out of work or underemployed.

The silly idea of giving people money to go back to work would only work if there are available jobs for everyone, which there are not. Why pay someone to go back to work? If there were available jobs and their unemployment ran out, they would have to go back to work, just like it has always worked.

And it would be very generous. To me that means more than $1200.
