I exhaust my benefits at the end of March. My benefit year doesn't end until September, but the money in my account runs out end of month. This is my second claim. Under the first claim I got the 13-week and 20-week extensions, but they made a new claim for me when my benefit year ended because I did work sporadically last year. When my money runs out, will I get the 11 week extension? Does that actually add more money back into your account? Will it happen automatically? Or is the 11 week extension expiring? If so, am I eligible again for the 13 week or 20 week extensions, since it's on a new claim? It's very confusing when I look at the NJDOL site.

This is your 2nd claim year on unemployment?

I forget the cut off date, I think it’s April 10th, but hopefully you can begin your 11weeks before the cut off date.

Yes, I got laid off in October 2019, but I worked a few days here and there when they called me back over the holidays and through February. They just deducted the amount from my UI check. Then this past October my benefit year ended, I called unemployment and the woman said I had enough earnings to open a new claim (it is about $125 less than my last claim) and she opened a new one for me.

I didn't realize it had a cut-off date! I wonder if I will have to do anything, or if it would be automatic. Does the cut off mean that even if I am extended at the end of March, it will end on April 10?

I’m not sure exactly.... scrapr can help you there.

From my understanding you had a certain time frame in which to start the 11 week PEUC claim. BUT the good news is Congress is working on another extension so you should be covered either way.

Out of curiosity:

In your first claim year (when you were picking up shifts, then worked through the holidays) did you make 6x your WBR?

Meaning let’s say your WBR was $425. Did you make more then $425 x 6 ?

I really don’t know, because I don’t know what she used as a base year. I was surprised when she said she was open a new claim, I thought she was going to adjust my benefit year. I was making $50 an hour at that job though so maybe. I think part of the base year though might have overlapped when I was working regularly.
