Yes. It's something I grow tired of hearing from everyone. Actually, my spouse KNOWS how hard I am trying, so he doesn't say it. My new favorite thing is the string of people who recommend self-help books. "If you think positively, you will have a job in no time." OK, whatever.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Finding a job is not the same experience for everyone. It is entirely possible that someone can apply for hundreds of jobs, have a great resume, pound the pavement, enlist the help of temp agencies, job placement services, etc., and still not be employed. There are so many factors at work: Your job skills and experience, who you know, the economy, your location, and just plain luck. You may have to accept a crappy, low paying job, that's just life. But replacing that job with a different one is not always a possibility. Those who think otherwise just do not know.

Another one...*note my husband works nights so he is home ALL day*
"I don't want to hear about this anymore...I have to go to work for 8 hours tonight."

and

"You have the wrong attitude!"

I get up every day trying to get something 'better.' I expect good things. If I do apply for anything the first thing HE says is "You can do better/that job will pay crap."

Another one not to say..."I don't think you really WANT a job.."

Add your own and VENT!!

I don't have anything to add other than I'm so sorry that when you need support at a time like no other that you are not getting it from the most important person in your life. That must suck.

Good luck to all of you looking for jobs.

We all need to think about it---this could be any one of us with the way things are these days. I know it's a worry at my house.

"So What's New??" aka found a job yet. "Take anything" is another one of my least favorites. Ughhh hello I graduated last year which means I have tons of student loans and to keep paying $150 every 6 months to defer private loans is not cheap and eventually I will have to start paying them back. A few people on here love to suggest taking a fast food job or any teeny bopper job and I will be the first to say out loud " I am not going to work full time at a fast food restaurant just to prove to you that I have a work ethic and want to work rather than collect unemployment which many people seem to think is mooching off the system. Umm hello I have been working for over 10 years I am pretty sure I put in more than they are giving me.
The truth is the economy is in the toilet, people are not spending much, companies are not making any substantial profits, therefore people are getting laid off left and right. My sister in law just came over and said she was laid off last week. It's a horrible situation. And when you do get a call back you are in limbo waiting to hear if you did or did not get the job. It sucks

Maybe I am in a bad mood right now because I have a severe toothache that has been crippling me for a day and a half and since I don't have any insurance I had to debate whether or not I was in enough pain to warrant a dentist visit. This morning I could see my jaw swelling to the size of jay leno so I had to take that leap. It costs me $135 including the xrays and prescriptions but here's the clincher, he can't pull it out I have to go to an oral surgeon which will cost me an arm and a foot so I'm going to pray the antibiotics and pain pills cover me until I hear from one of these jobs I've interviewed for.

Whoa this sounds too familiar, i've taken about 3 boxes of BC powder for my aches, oral surgeon wants $250 a pop for 1 tooth and that's the starting price! X-ray was $150 for them to say ohh it's gotta come out.

One thing you don't want to hear during this time is, You're tired? Tired of what? You don't work, how can you be tired?

Ahhh u read my mind mr. man. When I say I am tired or sleepy you would have thought I just said " Elvis lives in my backyard". Am I supposed to be living the life of Riley because I don't have a job? Is everyday a vacation day for me? If I stay online job hunting all day I'd be an even bigger bytch because it's too depressing.

Luckily my dentist let me keep the xrays he took and he said once I get it taken care of come back and he'll clean my teeth and do some maintenance for free. So if go to the oral surgeon and he tries to whip out the film to take new xrays I will kindly get up and walk out because I feel like I am getting screwed everywhere but the bedroom

Even when I worked my dh would ask WHY I was tired...I get up 6 am..nearly every day. I do all the homework with our son, handle 90% of the chores in the house, 100% of the stuff to get my son ready bed (hubby works nights), all the meals, and so on....

He spent an hour today 'helping me' look for a job (checking local companies), got fed up with the lack of jobs I could do (only tech or specialty jobs), then said, "this is depressing."

No kidding!!!

The worst part of all that is you probably already feel like crud and then your "support person" is piling more of that on.

I just say, "go ahead, talk to me like I am stupid-you just may confirm how I already make myself feel."

It can be depressing. Sitting around all day does not help me. I just see things to do that are things others leave laying around and it ticks me off. If I crab about it, it is like "well since you don't work, what's the biggie?" WTF??? Take care of your own stuff!!!! I don't care whether I work or not, it is common courtesy and decency. I would never leave my socks laying around for someone else to pick up!
