To set facts straight------------the worker and the employer pay into SS

-----------------------------only the employer pays in to unemployment compensation .

--------------------------only the employer pays in to wokman's comp

As far as a worker collecting those benefits of unemployment compensation or workman's comp, I have no qualm with workers who do and are eligible to recieve them.

I'm amazed to read some of the responses here. I'm from Germany and can't believe that in spite of (compared to Europe) crappy benefits workers get for their work in this country, people are still devoted to contributing to the government.

I am a laid off teacher. I now sub and will not be able to collect unemployment in the summer even though I still don't have a full time job. If I go to a temp agency and work some can I get unemployment during the summer if I still don't have a job??

Temp agencies don't like to pay unemployment. They'll do everything that they can to keep you from getting it.
