when people say thay are starting a second year of unemployment in ny, do they mean thay are collecting another 63 weeks.

No. There are too many variables. It could mean a recertification of the first claim which continues payment of federal benefits under that claim, or a new state claim, the amount and length of which would be determined by the earnings in the base year used to establish that claim. Many claims never qualify for 63 weeks.

so, I have just a few weeks to complete my 52 weeks of unemployment in ny state. I was asked to file a new claim last week. I just had a waiting week,and yesterday received regular payment. what am I to expect by filling a new claim, and does anyone know how many weeks of unemployment we get in Ny state. Do we get notification when we are close to the end of our unemployment .

If you claim online, your remaining balance should appear when you claim. I don't believe NY notifies you when are approaching the end of your benefits. It may send a letter when your benefits are exhausted.

The other questions can't be answered without knowing:

1. Date of original claim?
2. Original monetary determination?
3. Original Weekly benefit amount?
4. Original Base year wages used to establish this claim?
5. Did you exhaust all state benefits?
6. Did you begin EUC benefits?
7. How many weeks EUC did you collect?
8. Weekly benefit amount of the new claim?
9. Monetary determination of this new claim?
10. Base year wages used to establish this new claim?

If you can provide the above, we can tell you what remains to be collected under your old claim and what you will be entitled to collect under this new claim.
