Please help as it seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to get thru on the phone to Michigan UIA for help !! I keep getting a recording that all lines are busy, i've tried at least 25 times to get thru today !!!

My Michigan 26 weeks of benefits were exhausted on Nov. 13th, 2009 (that is the last time benefits were deposited to my acct (electronically).... now my bad for not realizing/remembering they were about to be exhausted. So on Nov 24th I called Marvin like I had been doing and it caught me off guard because it said something like "out of benefits will notify you if you're certified for further benefits" ........ So, i logged into my benefit account online and it said back on Oct 27th, an applicaiton for Extended benefits will be sent in the mail.

Sooo here is where my problem begins:

Last month my husband and I moved to Florida (for his job) and I neglected to update my address with UIA so I never received the application ! I really didn't think I need to since I had gone thru all the motions of having mail forwarded to the new Florida address. But this afternoon someone at Florida unemployment told me that unemployment info of any sort , does NOT get forwarded onto new addresses !!! Ughhhh

So, I made an educated guess and filled out the online application for extended benefits and it spitted back a confirmation number for me and all that jazz (oh and today, I faxed the form that was on the website for an address change - so hopefully that piece of the puzzle is solved.)

Now on my online account it says my benefit year ended on Nov. 28th - but I only received benefits May - present (I was laid off in December but got a severance from Dec 08 until May 09 )

So I guess my questions are :
is if anyone received the application for the Tier 1 benefits in the mail and if they did - did it simply instruct them to file out the application online for benefits extension ??? a
nd then they received a a confirmation number ???
Do I continue to call (or online ) Marvin on my given day / time ?
I did apply at Michigan works back in May , do I have to go again ? (which will be impossible since I live in Florida)

I'm so sorry this is so long, but I am so confused (& upset, we desperately need the money !!! ) and you can NOT get thru to that 866-500-0017 number !!!

thank you in advance and god bless everyone in these extremely difficult times !

I actually called them today about 2pm, got through 1st time. I had to wait about 15 minutes to talk to someone, but got through. That said, you'll have to call them & make sure your tier 1 EUC is set up & your call schedule. I'm not sure about you moving & how that plays in, but I assume it's fine, as long as you do the MARVIN thing. I would suggest setting up an online account to do it all online. You may also have to do the VISA or direct deposit route, since ya moved, but that's just me thinking out loud...

Jaz,
I think you really are going to have to talk to a live agent, You have an extreme situation as far as the moving out of state, Im really unsure if you can still claim if you have left the state. Filing for extended Benefits was pretty painless, I did it online and it seems to me I never missed a week. Although I know I had did it on time. I didn't have to go back to a UI office for that one either.
