I did a search and didn't find this information on the board and wanted to offer it up. It only works for getting through to a live person at California EDD if you need to call them. However, I simply googled "cal edd phone numbers" and found the tricks immediately, so try it for your state too.

The Cal EDD number is 1-800-300-5616. When you dial, you'll hear one of two messages. One says "Thank you for calling . . ." HANG UP because it's going to tell you that there are too many calls coming in. The other recording starts out with "Welcome to EDD."

As soon as you hear "Welcome to EDD," immediately press either 1-3-0 OR 1-2-1-1-7.

I first tried 12117 this morning and didn't get through. A couple minutes later, I used 130 and, sure enough, I got through. I was on hold about 5 minutes, but I got a live body and resolved the issue.

I can't say that it will work every time, but it sure beats hitting redial every couple minutes.

Good Luck!

I don't have to do that. I just send them an email, and request them to email me back or call me. I normally get a reply the next day. If it's an emergency, I go to the One Stop Career Center that has an EDD rep every day and talk to them.

Perfectly valid alternatives. However, I "emailed" them a week ago and still have not received a reply. The difference is that you can resolve the issue immediately by phone. By the time I was off with the representative, my back checks had been authorized and new claim forms were "in the mail."

I haven't had any problems yet, but if I do I'll try your method. If I can't get through I can go to a One Stop and talk to someone or use their direct lines to EDD to call.

Thank you for posting this. I tried it today and it worked! I'm on a new claim, and will be getting $239 per week.

I have called and called and called and can't get through. I am in Washington now, but started my unemployment in California. They told me to call them because my claim was incomplete or had whiteout on it. They told me I had till the 20th to call, I have called every single day and have gotten nowhere. I am starting to stress myself out because I need to get this resolved.

Try using the advice that was posted above. I tried it and it worked for me. It'll take a few tries to get the "Welcome to EDD" message, but as soon as you do, punch in the 12117 numbers. You'll have to hold for about five minutes, but it's worth it.

I've used witeout on my claim forms before without a problem. If they're incomplete, they'll send you a duplicate. Just keep trying to call with the advice, you'll get through.

Yeah I want to try it out, but can not get through. One time they called me back I wasn't home and I got home 5 minutes after they called that is the closest I have been to speaking to a real person.

My cellphone recent calls says I have called so far today 56 times and have never got that Welcome to EDD message maybe it is because I am in Washington?

EDIT: Just got the deep voice lady hit 1-3-0 it said it was transferring me then said there were too many callers and hung up.

I didn't get it at first either. I had to keep trying too, and I'm in CA. I don't think the state has anything to do with it. I had better luck with the 12117 number.
