should be able to

in Indiana it states on dwd website that you can still get benefits while working for Census if you don't make upto your weekly benefit. IE.. if your benefit amount is 300.. and you only make $250 for the week with census, you can still get $50 from your UI benefits.

Indiana is pitching the Census jobs as a way to stretch your benefits longer.

Ha. I had to move to the south and live with my parents I could not afford to live in NY anymore. So I applied for a census job and got only 1 question wrong on the test. Did not hear back from them for 3 months. I moved back up to NY because I have a possible job offer with great pay ( still going through the interview process)

Anyhow I got a call today from the census telling me they wanted me to go star training. LOL figures right..

Maybe if the govt was not so freaking slow I could have taken it

No, your only benefit is a paycheck. Only full time permanent employees get benefits.

Last year I regretted not applying for a census job but after talking with some who got hired to do census I am glad I didn't. Not enough hours and the lower pay reduced future unemployment benefits.
