I know for a fact a lot of people believe this crap because of going to church and being brainwashed into believing things like demons and possession. It's too bad, I do think religion can be a good thing but they take this little good seed and then package it up with blatant lies. This can affect people their whole lives. Even though they know better, they are still afraid.
Nobody ever talked to or summoned a demon or spirit with a ouija board.
Like buildings that don't have a 13th floor, or refusing to step on a crack? Oh, wait, gotta run--someone just broke a mirror, and there's a black cat walking around!
While I don't practice Voodoo, there ain't no way that I would mess with master priests and priestesses. No way in Hell!
As children we used to sit on the stoop and do the "Ouija" board, even in our basement...ah, that was so many years ago. I have never done it as an adult. Could be fun, I believe there is a spirit in my apartment anyway. I would be curious as to find out more about it.
but then theres that part of me that say's, hmmm, maybe not such a great idea.......
Some of the people in this thread have more faith in ancient Hebrew mysticism than the capabilities of the human mind. Probably because they don't use it much.
One of the funniest things that happened was a reply from a Stagecoach robber from the 1800s. I was foolish eough to ask why he robbed? "The reply was "I like to eat."
This provides a nice opportunity for me to say something about Ouija boards. I don't believe in demon possession, etc. but I do think that the human brain consists of a great many high-level cognitive processes that are never consciously experienced - in other words, there is a great deal of unconscious activity. Notice that "I like to eat" is a very clever and surprising answer (and I assume from the context of your story that you did not consciously push for this result). Thus it seems that you and/or your partner have a fairly creative subconscious capable to formulating surprising answers. Composing such an answer is a fairly high-level cognitive process. As I see it, this supports the idea that we can learn some things about ourselves by investigating the activities of our unconscious (I think mostly of Jung in this regard.) And, of course, a lot of people might be afraid of what they will learn from their unconscious. I find this all very interesting.
In seventh grade I had a slumber party at my parents' house where six of us used the Ouija board and experienced several unexplainable occurrences. After that, years later, there are clocks coming off the walls and washing machine lids opening mysteriously, among other things. I think we invited someone or something in, or woke them up.
I wouldn't use one again anywhere, nor would I buy one as a gift for someone.
Maybe it's just one of those unexplainable things: ESP Experiment
Haha, that's pretty clever. I was at a loss for a moment. It'd be more perplexing without a back button on the browser.
