If they have any intelligence, they will keep going.
A dipomatic mission would include knowing all about the place they are about to enter before they expose them selves.
This means learning the language and the values the people share likely through radio transmission reception.
An advanced race is unlikely to just wander in and expect to have a nice welcome, if they don't even know the language nor protection from deseased and crazy people in government.
Of course unless they already have an agenda.
Precluding an alien invasion ,for the lack of a better term, disarming the poplous and forming a one world government would set the stage especially if they have key people in the diffrent governments orchestrating the events. A global control.
Aso by controling the food and food production one an also control population which would be another part of the agenda.
Inacting laws that prohibit private farming, and poisoning the ground so that it cannot produce either, by the means of ariel spraying. but call it something else to shield the real agenda.
Also using low frequency radio waves, to alter the weather and cause earth quakes in varrious parts of the world .
How do you think your micro wave works? it ain't magic.
Encourage the break down of society and strenthen the divisions among people encouraging violance reducing the population all the more.
Other wise known as the NATO agenda 21.
Rural uncharted northeast Siberia. Then they'd start trickling in to Russia, China, Japan, Korea, etc... before fanning out to Europe and crossing the Bering Strait to get into the US.
A very remote area, like Antarctica or in the middle of a large desert or ocean. Landing near a large city would cause panic. That said, it would be best for them to keep going and not land at all. We cannot get along with each other, let alone a different species from another world. They would encounter hostility either way, and may become angry and respond in turn. If they can travel across a universe you can bet they would be advanced enough to possibly hand us a beatdown.
"But the biggest reason for the cover up, which has been echoed by a number of whistle blowers who were in high levels of government, is that its about who we are, how we got here and where we are going, not about ET. Apparently there is a profound connection between the UFO phenomena and human origins."
I think that they'd land for real only during the last and the most decisive conflict on Earth ( read WWIII?) where they'd be able to add to chaos and destruction of human race in order to take over. Most likely that's what "Armageddon" is really all about.
Until then they are only lurking here and there, reluctant to make their presence to be known and biding their time. If we do notice their presence, it's rather in spite of their desire to remain unnoticeable.
They would land in California. After all, everyone on the planet it seems wants to go to California. Then, the space aliens will buy oceanfront real estate. Or maybe they won't. After all, where would the space aliens get the money?
The aliens want to make peaceful contact with the inhabitants of Earth.
The only information they have available is imagery of Earth (essentially Google Maps with labels off).
They understand that structures such as buildings and roads were built by an intelligent life-form (us).
They do not have information on the political landscape of the world, only the physical.
Their spaceship can be landed anywhere.
They are only landing in one location.
The ship will be landing.
Assuming these, where would this alien spaceship containing a diplomatic mission land?
Considering the military has repeatedly shot at UFOs since WW2 I'd think they would avoid the hostile, crazy bipedal apes and go underwater to meet the dolphins instead.
