My fiance's birthday is in April and I would like to make it special this year. He loves haunted stuff...ghost stuff...and I know he would love to either do a ghost hunt, or stay in a room that is supposed to be haunted. I don't even know where to start looking. It would be nice to be at least near NJ but I would be willing to drive up to 6 hours (we live in central NJ) if it is somewhere we are staying for a weekend. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I'd go the the Lizzie Bordon Bed and Breakfast and museum in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast Museum - Home
You will get to stay in the house where Lizzie took an axe and murdered her father and stepmother. Or didn't, as she was never convicted. People disagree about her guilt.
What people do not disagree about is that this house, the site of a grizzly Victorian murder, is; to put it mildly; haunted as hell.
If you want to make it a longer weekend, drive up to Salem Massachusetts!

Thank you Sheena that's an awesome idea! I was actually reading up on that story not too long ago.

I think it's perfect! Place to stay and a haunted destination. They also serve meals there and you and your BF will be able to meet others who share your interest.
Even if you aren't into the paranormal, it's an interesting crime. The Borden house has been restored to look the way it did when the crime was committed.
It's a tad under four hours away from Central NJ.

I'm not sure. We did the daytime tour a couple of years ago, which was AWESOME. Creepy place with a lot of history. I can't remember if they do actual ghost hunts. My hairdresser is a ghost hunter as well, so I'm going to ask her for ideas as well.

That place is BADLY haunted, or so I've been told from many sources. Sure, personal experiences aren't exactly science, but when normally rational, level-headed, educated people that I've known for years speak of "things that go bump in the night" haunting that battlefield that they've experienced, I'm inclined to believe them. My brother and I visited there about 10 years ago, and the place felt... wrong... somehow, even in the day. Sure, it's quiet and peaceful, but there was just something very off about it. We didn't stick around to after nightfall to find out any more!
