Brown Lady of Raynham Hall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Probably the most famous and, to my mind, convincing photographs of a ghost ever captured on film. While I'm agnostic on the subjects of ghosts, if ever there was a genuine photograph of a ghost I actually believe this to be it. Contrast it to the Cottingley fairy photographs, this is clearly a holographic figure...I know that it would have been possible to use trickery to achieve this effect back in 1936, but somehow, the impromptu nature of the photographing leads me to believe it might be genuine.

what do you personally think?

I knew immediately what you were talking about, and I remember this was in a book about faking ghostly phenomena. Can't remember the book though.

So you think it was a fake?

In my opinion, I don't believe it to be faked. Seen good points pro and con as to whether or not is is authentic...would like to know how it might have been "faked", aside from the "usual arguments" cited by the "pro" side, somewhat "old and boring". UNtil something more cnvinving is brought forth proving it a "fake", I'll stick with my opinion that it is a photograph of "something yet to be determined, without question, as a "ghost".

Haunted Places: The Brown Lady in Raynham Hall | Astral Society

Just read an explanation that claims it's an 'Immaculata', a statue of the virgin Mary standing on a globe. Looking at the photo it does look very much like a hooded virgin Mary statue with some circular object at the bottom. Kind of disappointing, in a way. I still think it might be real, but this has cast some doubt in my mind about it.

Seen lots of photos of the "Lady", read the "pros"/"cons" of "it"/her and i think there is more to the object in question than has been fully explained or even studied, if one can study "ghosts'.

Lots of photos? That's the only one in existence as far as we know.
