A new release - yesterday- that chronicles a haunting in Rhode Island that took place in the early 1970s.

Ed and Lorraine Warren were the investigators.

It sounds good to me.

Anyone see it, or have plans to see it?

Heard great reviews considering its a horror movie. It apparently is somewhat similar to what happened in entity with Barbara Hershey. Wasn't a ghost, demon, or poltergeist. Just some kind of evil force terrorizing a family. It was considered to be the worst haunting of all time. It also was suggested the famuly not speak of it because the activity died down. Enter Hollywood lol.

I read the wiki -- it's based on the Warrens. A hard core case they did years ago. They've been trying forever to get this movie made and everyone passed on it until the last bunch of scriptwriters decided to flip it around and not make it in the point of view of the afflicted, but the in the point of view of the ghost hunters.

I'm not a fan of the Warrens -- they seem to think everything is demonic (of course -- that could be just what they keep running into) but this movie does look interesting.

That being said -- I'll wait for it on cable. Movie theatres around here are GHASTLY.

I saw it yesterday & also R.I.P.D by the way. The Conjuring was good! I'll mention something done in the movie, but if you don't want to know, don't read any further.

Spoiler

An exorcism
was done at the end of the movie & it honestly seemed kind of cheesy to me,
so that part didn't really scare me. It was hard to know if something just like
that scene is a thing that could happen in real life...probably not nearly to
that extent.

I saw it today and was definitely entertained and scared sh**less at some parts. Like the above poster said the
Spoiler
exorcism part was definitely scary until the very very end of it when they are telling her to fight it from within but start of the exorcism was scary as hell

I am not sure what I think about the Warrens. They are - or were ultra conservative Catholics, and like all really conservative Christians, they think that everything that goes bump in the night is a demon, which I do not. I don't rule them out, but there are other kinds of hauntings.

Spiritual ideology aside, I do want to see it. Perhaps Sunday.

I don't care if it is real or not I just want to be really scared and this film seems to fit the bill. Might have to wait for red box though - hate paying movie theater prices.

I think in terms of true creepiness...something that will really frighten you where you won't want to be home alone at night after coming back from watching, the GRUDGE movies are the most frightening to me.
